Sarah Thompson is a board certified acupuncturist and herbalist as well as a certified functional medicine practitioner and birth doula. Sarah started practicing in 2005 after doing her internship in Beijing, China. Sarah founded Sacred Vessel in 2012 after years of working alongside medical doctors. She serves as clinic director as well as lead practitioner at Sacred Vessel.
One of her great passions, and missions, is to educate women and their providers on the vital role nutrition plays in pregnancy and labor outcomes. Through her, nearly, 20 years of experiences she has provided care to hundreds of expectant mamas. In 2021 she authored the book, Functional Maternity - Using Functional Medicine and Nutrition to Improve Pregnancy and Childbirth Outcomes. In 2024, she published her second book, a reference book for providers, Beyond Results - A Practitioner's Guide to Functional Lab Analysis in Pregnancy. Sarah's focus extends outside the clinic. She travels around the country, teaching medical providers the clinical significance of nutrition in pregnancy disease. Her book, Functional Maternity, is currently a curriculum book for midwifery education programs. As an authority on functional medicine applications in pregnancy, Sarah is often a guest on podcasts and interviews. Click here for a list. It took a while to get an appointment with Sarah, so in the meantime I had found a local functional medicine doctor. I was excited when I finally got an appointment with Sarah and the difference between my consult with her and the other doctor I was seeing couldn't have been more contrasted. She spent time to explain and educate me, while also being genuinely interested in my personal story and what I'm experiencing. Unlike the other doctor I was seeing, I felt heard and seen with Sarah, and needless to say I am not going to be seeing the other doctor anymore. I am excited to have someone who I feel is just as interested in getting some answers for me as I am. Make the appointment with her!!!
