Your nutritional status prior to pregnancy will set you and your baby up for either success or failure through pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. At this phase of pregnancy (yes this is a phase of pregnancy), we are building a foundation.
In preconception, our focus is largely on the health of the sperm (yes dad's nutrition plays a big role in this) and the egg. If either of these are nutritionally deficiency, they will be weak and could lead to miscarriage or birth defects.
