Job Description
The Clinical Assistant/Health Coach provides virtual patient care and support for functional medicine patients. The job focuses on patient communication, basic clinical coordination, and lab management work. The clinical assistant/health coach serves as a direct support to the clinical team for patient care tasks, working closely with the practitioner and administrative assistant to ensure smooth clinical operations.
Hours
Part-time, approximately 4 hours per day, Monday – Friday, with flexibility based on patient needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Make patient care calls to check progress, answer simple questions, and relay information to and from the practitioner.
- Manage patient lab orders: placing orders, tracking orders, tracking results, filing results, and ensuring timely follow-up scheduling
- Review incoming lab results and flag urgent findings for the practitioner
- Answer routine patient questions, within the scope of practice, and schedule as needed with the practitioner for more complex questions.
- Assist in occasional scheduling and billing when needed (in coordination with the administrative assistant)
- Communicate effectively, professionally, and educated with patients, lab companies, and other health providers as necessary.
- Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a clinical, healthcare, or functional medicine setting preferred
- Certifications, licensure, or degree in a related healthcare field
- Strong organization and multitasking skills
- Comfortable with remote work, self-direction, and task prioritization
- Knowledge of medical terminology, basic lab work, and nutritional supplements
- Proficient with EHR systems
