What is Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition of the reproductive organs in with endometrial cells of the uterus grow elsewhere in body. The most common areas for this to occur are in the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and the peritoneum. These endometrial cells are affected by hormones just as those endometrial cells found within the lining of the uterus. These cells grow, thicken and then shed/bleed, just like the cells lining the uterus. This is not to be confused with Adenomyosis, which is the growth of endometrial cells within the uterine muscle.
