HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Today is our 9 year anniversary.
In general we are simple, we do not do gifts or cards. It's a general rule we both follow. We do try to spend the day together, whatever it may entail. Today we spent the day processing Hubby's buck. It's good quality time spent together, putting healthy food in the freezer for the year. Good conversation.
Before getting started on the project of the day we've got to get the kiddos off to school, which typically means feeding them. Open Faced Breakfast Sandwiches.
Mine was sprouted grain bread, nitrate free ham, cheese, arugula and a fried egg…and coffee.
Project Driven! Enough said. Both Hubby and I are that way. So of course, lunch was an after thought. I did snack on a couple things.
Thankfully, Grandpa came up to help (and watch the girls while we go out to dinner). Took us all day (8:30-4:00) to process the buck. ALL DAY!!!!!! With THREE PEOPLE!!! At least it was quality time with hubby.
Then, before I knew it, date night! Any excuse to get out for some good food and drinks. AND, being our anniversary we went all out.
STARTER: Oysters Rockefeller…yummy, KimChi Oysters (who am I to turn down an oyster with kim chi), and Calamari.
There was wine involved tonight. Chardonnay…
DINNER: Pan Seared Grouper, Brussels Sprouts with Pork Belly, Salad with Horseradish dressing.
It was AWESOME! There are certain foods that I gravitate to when out for special occasions…anything with Pork Belly or Duck. I am a sucker for those. The amazing rich flavor is a must! And cooking either is WAY too intimidating.
The waiter over heard us talking about our anniversary and gave us a special treat. Pumpkin Creme Brûlée, and a glass of champagne. WOW! I think I ended up eating more than 1/2.
